happy first halloween!

lots of visitors today! demarcus spent the night with us (because that's what grounded teenagers do-spend the night with their aunts! haha) and my step dad and aunt are heading up from cathlamet to meet little mister corbin! then my sister and jaden are coming over after a trip to trophy cupcakes to see the cupcake costume contest and get some delicious halloween treats. we never did get corbin a costume this year but he has a couple halloween onesies that will do the trick and we might stop next door and trick or treat at great grandma nana's and mimi & grandad's houses!
happy trick or treating!
what do you mean you dont like being stuffed inside a pumpkin!?!

on this day, seven years ago...

i went on the first of many dates with the man of my dreams, the father of my child, my very best friend!

i got a job in late september 2002 doing customer service for verizon wireless. i remember having an orientation day at a hotel in auburn and noticing this cool, blue explorer with the music up loud pull into the parking lot with snowboarding stickers on it and then a cute guy getting out and walking into the hotel. well guess who that cute guy ended up to be!?! there were probably about one hundred people there that day and we were informed we would be broken up into three different classes. when i showed up to training class that next week i was SO happy to see that cute guy from orientation in my class! i had a one in three chance! :) over the next couple weeks i made friends with people in the class but never really talked to that cute guy. i mis-took his shyness for arrogance until one day we had to find a partner for an assignment and i just happened to pick a pal that was sitting right next to the boy i'd admired from behind in the back of the class all these weeks. so finally i struck up a conversation with him. i'd mentioned wanting to see that movie 8 mile with eminem (give me a break, i was 19! haha) and told ryan he should take me. and he said OKAY! so we swapped numbers and went to the movies that friday night. we ended up seeing the ring and both wanted to hang out more after the movie was over so i went over to his house. we spent the rest of the night watching another movie and getting to know eachother better. i even ended up meeting his parents that first night! they came home late from the casino. they were both so nice and funny! there was no good night kiss until date number two (which was the next day!) its fun for us to talk about those early, fun, and flirty days now because he remembers seeing me that first day too and was just as interested in me as i was in him!
i couldn't imagine spending the last seven years or the rest of my life with anyone but him.
here are some pics from those early years...

fun fact: today would have been nick lachey and jessica simpson's seven year wedding anniversary too had they stayed together...

three things.

thing one.
isn't he the absolute dog-on freakin' cutest!

thing two.
we went to the pediatrician yesterday (more on that to come...) and when she walked in the door she said "he has a very wise soul in those eyes!" then i thought YES! that's it!

thing three.
corbin had his first cant-do-anything-to-stop-his-crying night last night and on one of ryan's turns of bouncing, rocking, doing everything he could think of to try and make corbin happy or fall asleep i was in the other room and heard him say, "i would be okay with a million fussy nights as long as it meant you were here with us!" melt my heart why dont ya!

smashed pumpkin

today we headed out to the pumpkin patch up the hill from our house in enumclaw. it had been one of the only nice days lately so when ryan got off work we bundled ourselves up and headed out. i must have bundled corbin up a little too much because he slept THE ENTIRE TIME. not even kidding. i had to put his face up to my ear more than once to make sure he was even breathing. ryan and i kept passing him back and forth to eachother for pictures and everything. not since he was first born has he slept like that!

then when i stripped him down to put him in his carseat he woke up and smiled of course.
it was a quick but fun experience. next year he'll be running all over the place and we can ride on the tractor and pet the animals!

madame zaritska predicts your birth experience!

i remember doing this before corbin was born, just for fun. i dont remember it all but i do remember it saying he would have auburn hair, grey eyes, he would weigh like ten or twelve pounds, and my labor would last tons of hours (something like 30)! well i just came across a link to the site again so i thought i'd give it another try. here are my freakishly close results. (and maybe its only freakishly close because my last one was SO off!)

The day you deliver, outside will be shiny. Your baby will arrive in the late morning. After a labor lasting approximately 18 hours, your child, a boy, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 8 pounds, 12 ounces, and will be 18-1/2 inches long. This child will have medium blue eyes and some blonde hair.

shiny: check!
late morning: corbin was born at 1:47 pm so thats off.
18 hour labor: yup!
a boy: yes-a-ree!
8 lb 12 ounces: uumm more like 7 lb 9 ounces
18 1/2 inches long: close, corbin was 19 1/2 inches
medium blue eyes: uh huh
some blonde hair: no way! not then at least. it was DARK! but now its coming in much lighter

here's the link if you want to try!

just cuz...

uummm so maybe im a little obsessed but really i just used up one of my memory cards in my camera and as i was going thru looking at all the pictures one last time before i took it out and put in another when i noticed my card holds almost one thousand pictures. so here i am browsing thru and im at the delivery pictures and am only at like 3oo-something and thought to myself 'holy crap! i've taken over six hundred pictures of corbin in the last eight weeks! thats about 75 pictures a week. about 11 pictures a day. thats like one picture every other hour for my child's entire life! so here are some of my FAVORITES!

(which if you're my facebook or myspace friend, you've already seen. but for everyone else...)

seven weeks and so many changes!

what a difference a single day can make. one morning you wake up and your baby is smiling non stop, coo-ing like crazy, puckering his lips, and blowing spit bubbles! its the cutest thing ever. we love talking back to him and are always wondering what's going on his little brain! he's still wearing newborn clothes but sometimes we find a 3-month onsie that fits his chubby belly! we're looking forward to his two month check up in a couple weeks so i can ask all my pages of questions! also i think he's going thru one of his many growth spurts. he's been sleeping like crazy lately! but who could complain, i get a lot done and sleep a lot more too!
this weekend we had our first big family all day outing adventure! we've gone places here and there but we're always back in time to feed corbin comfortably at home. well, i pumped all week and practiced bottle feeding to prepare for saturday so we could be gone for more than just two hours!
the day started out at my pal merissa and jay's wedding in enumclaw. she looked gorgeous in her wedding dress, the ceremony was cozy, full of love and laughter, and very special. my favorite moments were when they exchanged rings the sun came out from behind a cloud or something and lit up the stained glass background behind them inside the church. and i loved how when the ceremony was over we were all outside and they rang the church bell super loud and the newlyweds were whisked away in a fancy, white, old fashioned bentley! it felt like a wedding from a movie! corbin did great and only let out one little squeal the whole time! i was so happy to be a part of their special day. and wish so much we could have made it to the reception but...

then we were off to adam and katie's engagement dinner at stanley and seaforts in tacoma. you know, the one you always drive by on i-5 but never can figure out how someone would actually get up to! haha we'll so be going there again! omg, the food was DELICIOUS! and the company was fun too. they both have great families and we're so happy they found eachother, fell in love, and are now getting married! ryan has a lot of work ahead of him being the co-best man! :)

so, after all that i've come to the conclusion i hate pumping and would rather just excuse myself from wherever i am to go somewhere private and feed him. i worked so hard all week to pump enough for him to practice taking a bottle then we ended up in the car in the parking lot with my dress lifted all the way up to my neck feeding him myself during dinner because he wouldn't take the bottle all of a sudden! agh! and then the five ounces of breast milk went completely to waste because i FORGOT it was in the diaper bag until one day later! i can't even bring myself to pour it down the drain.
